Hi there,

really silly question! When your main lights are on are the fuel level and engine temp dials supposed to light up??

I replaced my front wiper motor last weekend and I noticed they weren't working .. but then I couldn't remember if they worked in the first place .. just something that was automatic.

Speedo and clock light up fine!

thanks

They should, either the bulb holders have dropped out of the back of the guages [they get quite loose], or there's an earth [black] wire not attached.

The instrument loom earth should go to the back of the fuel guage, I've got four seperate ones, but most are different. It'll probably have a ring connector one the end.

When I got mine the fuel guage and clock didn't light up - it was just as Chris said the bulbs had fallen out the back of the clocks.

They just push in and twist - and I guess the vibration had rattled them out.

as your talking about Td5 gauges, yes they should light up with sidelights/speedo/clock lights, either the bulb holder has come adrift or the bulbs have blown.

Cheers guys,

I'll have a look tomorrow .. fitting new stereo and back speakers .. so I'll look then!

I have this problem sometimes, I find a good sharp tap on the offending dial fixes it. Then again I'm driving a 17 year old Defender so these things are to be expected.

suggest you check all the gauge connections.

I know I need to but I want to replace the whole thing when I have the time as all the plastic is broken in places and wobbles around a lot.

Hi there,

Fitted new stereo and speakers .. sounds good .. certainly beats the LR one .. though that wouldn't be hard.

So seems it's the bulbs in the fuel level and engine temperature dials. Does anyone know the part number .. is it PRC2268? This seems to be an instrument panel bulb 24V 1.2w.

Or can anyone recommend some suitable LED equivalents?

Thanks a million

Mark
