just to get me out of trouble, and stop me having to cummute 400 miles a week on my deestones i've been offered a set of 205x16 tyre to shove on the 110.... will they be ok, or will they look realy silly and lower the gearing too much???

i ran the 110 on 31x10.5x15's for ages and think they were the same size as 205's.....

any hints please.....

thanks

Same size as 90s run stock so gearing will be ok though they will look silly. Of more concern though is their load rating high enough for a 110?

205's are more like 29" not 31". Will be OKish unless you have a 1.6 ratio transfer box then they will be a tad low geared. And yes they will look ickle and silly.

205's look really small & silly on a 110, but I have seen it done before, just check the tyres are capable of taking the 110's max weight not just kerb weight.

My dad used to put 205 size wheels on a 110. They were the disco tyres . they were for the main reason that it improved towing no end, as it gave you more low down power . And as his 110 spent 99% of the time with a trailer on the back it made it alot better to drive

It'll also burn more fuel and have a lower top-speed, although the acceleration will be better. My brother's Ninety is similar to mine but on 205s and it really seems to zip around (especially around corners) but it's really revvy at 70mph.

Hmmmm.... not a good idea then, particularly as i want to improve the fuel economy and general driving experience....

thanks guys, not even thought about the kerb weight issue....

Although the engine will rev slightly higher it dosenty mean it will burn that much more fuel, the load on the engine will be reduced in the same proportion as the incre3ase in engine speed.

The fuel comsumption change will depend more on your driving style having that new slightly lower gearing.
