looking at the 3100 kit, but what lead do i need to intergrate it with the stereo so no wires require cutting to install it?

cars a landrover defender 07 model this dash/ stereo

Its a christmas present for my mums landrover, so I cant pull the stereo out to have a look myself, dont and will not cut anywires, so looking for a made up lead solution, to connect the parrot to the stereo system.

ive had a look on www.armourauto.co.uk and think i need a SOT-066 lead and this would do the job?

Just looking for some confirmation from someone whos been there done it, to save me wasting cash buying the wrong bits!

cheers.

I think it will plug straight in - we fitted one to a Puma at work recently and I don't recall any swearing ;)

The Parrot plugs into the stereo leads (twin 8 pin ISO connectors) and I THINK that the 07MY Defender has gone back to these, rather than the stupid BMW vunderplug that is on 02-06 Defenders. My Ranger has ISOs in it and when my Parrot was fitted it was a plug in job as far as I recall. I certainly didn't buy any extra leads over and above what was in the Parrot box.

fitted a couple of parrots in different cars (seat toledo and mits l200), all very easy, they bolt onto the vehicles ISO connectors....and you'll need to run 2 cables (1 for power to the parrot, and then 1 for the microphone) these are small cables and you should be able to pretty much put them where you want them.

What's the sound quality like? Isn't the background noise a bit high?

I had one in my '89 TD and that was OK, just had to stay below 50mph to hear it

Also had one in a softop car, just needed to keep the mic out of a draghty area.

The one in the 300tdi works ok upto motorway speed so it should be even better with the newer (quieter) vehicles.

If you locate the microphone near to you as possible then sound levels are acceptable (as they were in my last TD5 - but the Puma is better). Output sound is loud enough for me and I'm a bit mutton and Jeff due to too much shooting without ear defenders.

I have my Parrot in the Ranger which is OK on smooth roads but you struggle to hear the other person when rattling along rough gravel where there is more background noise, and I think it would struggle in a Tdi Defender so I haven't bothered with one in the 110. I was going to put another one in the Fairy but I don't use the phone much in the garage...

Speaking from the recieving perspective now. I had a long conversation with someone yesterday. 1/2 way through I asked if he was driving whilst talking. His reply was that he was using the Parrot kit. It was very clear and only minimal engine noise was sent down the line to me. I was very impressed almost as clear as the phone kit in the D3

a bit late but a few install pictures,

the cable from the display goes into the vent pipe, then out via a small hole i made.

the control box fits nicely behind the cover under the dash on the passenger side.
