M&S Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 As the title suggests, I'm looking to buy one of those sheet benders from Machine Mart or similar (maybe even Eblag if I can get one locally 2nd hand). I want to make a few cubby boxes out of 2mm chequer plate, and maybe a rack for the waffle boards etc. I was going to use angle to make a frame then rivet the sheet to it, but figure folding would be neater, less costly, less weight and less work. Any tips or what to look out for before I splash the cash? Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 2mm chequer plate I don't think will bend in one of those Nige Quote
Les Henson Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 This thing? I have one of those benders. They are fine with 1.2mm or less, but anything over that and the jaws bend as well - meaning that the ends of the bend are fine, but the centre of the bend is a curve. I doubt very much it will make a tidy bend on similar thickness alloy. Les. Quote
LandyManLuke Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 As above, that bender won't do it. Quote
M&S Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 As above, that bender won't do it. Cheers all, that's saved me a few quid Quote
