Hello im going to do my head gasket next week and the bit of paper with the new gasket says the torque is 40nm 60• 60• is that correct and is it the same for all of the bolts as there are two different sizes. The engines a defender 200tdi.

Correct, 40Nm, 60 degrees & a further 60 degrees, :i-m_so_happy:all the headbolts get the same torque/degree settings.

have you got a degree gauge to fit on your torque wrench ?

No need to guess. Each flat on a 6 sided bolt represents 60 degrees. So after tightening to 40NM you can mark one flat on the bolt and put a mark on the head next to the 1st and second flats following it and work to those marks. A bit better than guessing but still not as good as a torque guage

Hi

Get a gauge and maybe a set of new head bolts if you are unsure how many times the head has been off. You've already got the h/gasket, Elring was suggested to me which I did use.

DON'T ASK HOW I KNOW.
