theoptimist Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 hi guys, I want to take my cat off and wandered id this could be a cheap way of doing things. this is the mid section from 1.8 model would i be able to buy one of the for 30 quid and conect this instead of the cat, and go straight through to the back may need bending slightly. Cheers the optimist Quote
FridgeFreezer Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 I suspect the mounting flange and overall length is different, got a piccy of the TD4 one to compare with? Quote
reb78 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Diameter is normally different on diesel compared to petrol too isnt it? I;d expect this one to be smaller diameter as well as different length and flange. Quote
theoptimist Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 finding this pic i have answered my own question. think i will just have to get the grinder and welder out and insert piece of pipe in place of the cat. Thanks for the responses guys. Quote
FridgeFreezer Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 You could get/make a couple of flanges so teh cat becomes a bolt-in for MOT-o-clock. Quote
theoptimist Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 that's a good idea, will need to do that, thanks fridgefreezer Quote
EggNChips Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 If it's a diesel, just 'gut' the cat. The diesel is a pure smoke test for the MOT and so the efficiency of the cat isn't measured. Quote
theoptimist Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 ah like that idea, that's also a good idea thanks EggNChips Quote
