When removing the floor planels there is a strip of black tape making the seal.

What is this tape called so I can get more?

Personally I just used some draught excluder style adhesive foam strip when I did mine. Ensure it's closed-cell so it won't hold moisture.

I was thinking of using silicone I assume that would be ok.

Well it would but:

A: It leaves behind a residue that makes painting harder in the future.

B: The floors would be a pain to remove in the future.

A roll of the stuff I used was pretty cheap from Homebase or the like, seemed the best option.

Is butyl tape a name for it?

we use similar stuff to seal liferaft bag after service , we now use bathroom edge sealing strip , the stuff you put the plastic trim against the bath with

I used meters of the stuff when I re-built the 90, its very and would recomend using foam tape as apposed to silicone. you can get all different types of thickness lengths and widths if you do a bit of searching...
